You are your best asset

assetOne of the questions that we ask all of our clients in our first meeting with them is, “What is your best asset?” We have heard a lot of answers, one of my favorite answers being, “My wife’s engagement ring.” Although that was a good answer, the answer we want to point you to is YOU.

One could argue that your faith is your best asset, financially speaking no one is going to put more money in your pocket than yourself. You are your best asset. Not a stock, mutual fund, gold, silver, real estate, ROTH, 401k, or Bitcoin. Your ability to generate money is a powerful thing and an asset worth protecting.

If you are questioning my statement, do the math on how many years you have worked in your life. Take the average amount of money you have made each year up to this point and multiply that by the number of years you have worked plus the number of years that you will be continuing to work in the future. The number is staggering and that doesn’t even consider any growth of your money.

If you don’t feel like you are your best asset, then you need to get around people that will show you that you are. Don’t be your own biggest obstacle. Honestly, if you don’t have someone in your life speaking truth into your life about how you need to get out of your own way, then you are not releasing your true potential.

Help yourself by talking to an advisor that can start hearing what your biggest dreams are and seeing if they can be achieved. It might only take the right set of eyes looking into your situation to help you get out of your own way.
